New Zealand 2006
Feb, 5 - 21, 2006.
To celebrate our 9th anniversary, we decided to make the long trip to New Zealand!!
Because we were using our Delta Skymiles for Business Class seats, we had to fly the long way, JFK via Seoul, South Korea to Auckland! The flight from JFK to Seoul was 14 hours, then the flight from Seoul to Auckland was 12 hours. But the service, the planes and the First Class lounges were so nice we actually enjoyed the long journey!
We spent one night in Auckland on the North Island.
Then we spent 12 days on the South Island. We started in Dunedin, rented a car and drove almost completely around the perimeter of the island, around the southern end then up the west coast to Greymouth.
Then we made our way across the island to Christchurch, then explored the northern part of the island, visiting Nelson and Abel Tasman.
Of course, this was way too short of a trip, but we really got to see a lot. It was not stop excitement and breathtaking scenery! And the people were just as lovely!
Just some of our favorite parts of this amazing trip were seeing penguins come right up out of the ocean, the boat cruises through Fiordland, and our “extreme” activities, like bungy jumping and skydiving!!!
These photos highlight some of our favorite memories!
Hope you enjoy them!
