This was our 2nd trip to Hawaii, unusual for us as we very rarely return to a place we've been. But Hawaii is such a spectacularly beautiful place that we couldn't wait to return!
On our first trip in September 2003 we only spent one full day on Oahu and then 4 nights each on Kauai, Maui and the Big Island.
This time we decided we would split our time between Oahu, which we wanted to explore more, and Kauai, which was our favorite.
This was our trip to celebrate our 12th anniversary...I can't imagine a more beautiful place to celebrate!
Being February, the weather wasn't quite as warm as our previous trip in September 2003. In fact, it was actually kinda chilly, or at least not what you'd call ideal beach weather. Low 70s for a high temperature, very breezy and cloudy a lot of the time. Also, on the north shore of the islands the surf was HUGE!! But winter is whale-watching season and we saw lots of whales in Kauai, even right from the balcony of our condo!! You're certainly not doing any whale-watching in September! So, that was a treat.
Hawaii is an amazing place any time of year!
These are just some of our favorite photos from our trip. A disclaimer about the whale photos---not my best work. In fact, I didn't really get any good photos of the whales, just a couple as proof we saw them :)
I didn't have my good lens and the boat was a-rockin' so it was hard to get good shots. But, hey, we saw whales and it's an experience we won't forget!!
